Overcoming Fear, Shame, and Guilt in Authentic Communication
Episode60: Overcoming Fear, Shame, and Guilt in Authentic Communication
Explicit
Today I'm talking about fear, shame, and guilt and how it affects our ability to communicate. I'm doing a solo podcast today because I've had a lot on my mind lately both personally and as a coach. So many people struggle with authentic communication and I wanted to bring attention to it.
In this episode we talk about:
1. Understanding the Impact of Fear and Shame
2. The Drama of Burying Feelings
3. The Burden of Responsibility for Others' Feelings
4. The Role of Guilt in Communication
5. Embracing Authentic Expression
We need to be mindful of minimizing our emotions just to protect others from feeling pain. But that can be so difficult when we feel responsible for other's emotions and reactions. Our trauma responses often cause us to be hyper vigilant towards other people's reactions to us and our reality. We are so afraid of becoming a burden that we keep our truth to ourselve so that we protect our outer peace. The problem with that is it ends up disrupting our inner peace and then we struggle even more.
